A Nantwich runner representing England finished 10th for her country in the prestigious Home Nations 5k race in Cardiff.
At one point, Sarah Dufour-Jackson (pictured, vest 170) led the race despite what she described as “pretty grim” conditions!
It was the first time the Vale Royal club athlete had represented England.
She said: “The race was a great experience; I really enjoyed it.
“I was quite a way outside of my PB, running 16:27, but conditions were pretty grim.
“I was just grateful for the opportunity and thankful to everyone for the support going into it!”
Sarah is a member of the Vale Royal Athletics Club and is a former Malbank School and Sixth Form College student.
She currently works at Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust where colleagues cheered her on at the Home Nations event.
This event is renowned for being one of the top 5k races in the country and in the past England teams have had great success.
England once again triumphed this year as Sarah came in as third female athlete to help the team win.
Vicky Griffiths, England Athletics team operations manager, said: “The Home Nations 5k is a fantastic representative opportunity for athletes.”
