Crewe Vagrants CC second team

Rain on the last weekend of the season prevented any play in Crewe Vagrants CC’s first match at home to Moddershall.

But Crewe 2nds (pictured) did manage some action and earned enough points to clinch their league title at Checkley.

Checkley opted to bat first and were soon to regret their decision as the Crewe bowlers took control on a lively wicket.

Only P Baxter (16) and O Spear (10) managed double figures as Andy Whittingham (2-6), Frazier Hoye (2–11), and Haveesh Alluri (2-11) well assisted by Kush Parmar (1-22) reduced Checkley to 54 for 8 before the game was abandoned.

The four points gained proved to be critical as neighbours Market Drayton finished one point less in their match and so handing the league to Crewe.

It crowned a fine season after Crewe 1st team (pictured, below) gained a well-deserved promotion.

The Women’s team, in their first season, won their league while the Under 9s also excelled by winning every one of their league matches and their league.
