A developer is seeking the views of Wistaston residents on its plans to build about 190 homes on land off Crewe Road, writes Belinda Ryan.
Redrow Homes wants to build the dwellings on a 12.6-hectare site comprising open fields and grassland, which borders land and allotments owned by Willaston Parish Council.
The company is encouraging residents to take part in its consultation, which closes on September 26, before it submits a full planning application to Cheshire East Council.
A statement on the consultation website says: “Our vision for Crewe Road is to deliver a sensitively designed community that meets local housing needs while complementing the character of the existing village.
“Through a coordinated masterplan approach, the site will provide high-quality, energy-efficient homes within a sustainable setting.
“We will create a cohesive new community that integrates seamlessly into its surroundings, enhances access to green space and provides a place where residents feel proud to call home.”
The website says the proposal will include 30% affordable homes.
The development will include multifunctional green infrastructure, retain the public footpath, provide landscaping and public open space, with a biodiversity net gain of 10 per cent and sustainable drainage systems.

It was always going to happen by leaving an access gap. The composition of the mix concerns me as any reference to affordable is too costly for a lot of our community. In addition nothing has been said on Sect 106 contributions at this stage. However, CEC’s record on this planning requirement is very suspect in the application of it, and recent reports would rate it as poor.
They are slowly, clandestinely, trying to merge Crewe and Nantwich, Crewetwych.
The borderlands between these 2 towns is pretty much now non existent.
More fancy homes for rich Londoners I suppose.
Not required and not wanted, plenty of brown field sites available, develop those not green field sites
190 Houses, all accessed via a single entry & exit point between 2 houses on an already busy road…
Absolute nonsense as usual, these idiots won’t be satisfied until the whole green areas are filled in.
And to top it off a fake consultation to provide an illusion of legitimacy to the scheme…
The road is already dangerous, there are too many junctions i.e church lane,co-op entry exit, childrens nursery, and wistaston road junction, bus stops and entry to allotments. We do not want any more road deaths RIP on that road
