The founder of the Dabbers Dash monthly event in Nantwich has scooped a major honour at Everybody Health & Leisure’s annual awards.

Paul McIntyre, from Nantwich, was presented with the Chairman’s Award at the event hosted by Paralympian legend Tanni Grey-Thompson.

Paul, who also runs the Nantwich Triathlon Club, runs Dabbers Dash around Barony Park where people can run, walk, or cycle around.

Each event also aims to highlight a particular cause or charity to help raise awareness.

A spokesperson for Everybody Health & Leisure said: “Our Chairman Andrew Kolker chose Paul for this award because he is a man with a clarity of vision and a dedication to his sport.

“He is the founder of the Nantwich Triathlon Club and under his guidance in the last four years the club has sky-rocketed, even getting attention from British Triathlon, the national governing body, for its outstanding community impact.

“He uplifts and mentors fellow club members, enabling them to grow in confidence and reach their own leadership potential. His approach is rooted in community, accessibility, and shared celebration.

“Our winner does not stop at just Triathlon!

“He has also launched two other community initiatives: The Dabbers Dash and The Farmers Pants.

“Both are free, inclusive, and designed to bring people together through physical activity.

“Reading this nomination, the judges were simply blown away by the incredible achievements, dedication and determination of this individual, making him a great choice for the Chairman’s award.”

At the awards in Mottram Hall, Paul outlined plans for a new project which aims to tackle social isolation among farmers and get more people active in the community.

Thomas Barton, CEO of Everybody Health & Leisure, said: “It has been another amazing year for nominations across our eight categories, and it is credit to all finalists and winners for their amazing work.

“This is personally always one of my favourite occasions of the year when we get to hear the inspiring local stories of people’s dedication, selflessness & achievements.

“It was a privilege to have Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson as our host for the fifth occasion.

“Thank you to all sponsors for making these awards possible, everyone who nominated someone and of course to our amazing winners and finalists.”
