A woman has been arrested after a car careered out of control and crashed onto its roof on a busy Nantwich road.
The 31-year-old was arrested on suspicion of drink driving following the incident on Queen’s Drive.
The incident happened at 8:15pm last night (Wednesday 15 October).
Cheshire Police said today: “Police were called to reports of a collision on Queen’s Drive, Nantwich.
“The collision involved a vehicle which had overturned. The driver, a 31-year-old woman, was arrested on suspicion of drink driving.
“There were no reports of any serious injuries.”

Senro what are you on about, what fatality, try reading it properly
Not sure what help a lower speed limit or speed bumps would have helped in this case as the driver was drunk,if you can’t avoid a parked car and end up on your roof ,just glad the idiot did not hurt anyone else.
Thank goodness nobody was injured.
I always think that people always jump to their own conclusion when things happen,
People don’t look further into the situation and ask what circumstances arose to cause this fatality.
@Sharkting
Why were you driving at 25 mph? Seems quite slow. If they overtook at 30 then thats ok
30 – its a speed “limit” not a requirement.
Highway Code 125
Its probably a sensible speed for Queens Drive most of the time
Just glad that no one was seriously injured or worse. No excuse for drink driving.
As a Queens Drive resident, I’ve long thought that some kind of traffic-calming measures are needed here. Lots of pedestrians crossing by the bend, including kids and families, but drivers tear round like they’re on a motorway.
Have heard that speed bumps won’t be considered as Queens Drive is on a bus route. But something else could – and should – be put in place.
Sharkting. It’s a 30 mph road, so 25 mph is reasonable given the road conditions and blind areas caused by parked cars.
I was overtaken by the other car in an area where there were kerbside parked cars. And the overtaker would now be over 30mph to get past me. And in the area of a blind junction too.
If that is acceptable to you perhaps you should reconsider its potential for an accident. I do not want to be part of your or anyone else’s accident due to incompetent and selfish driving.
It’s people like sharkting why the roads are dangerous, 25mph in a 30 is not slow, you have to drive at a speed that suits the road conditions. Overtaking anywhere down this road would be absolutely treacherous. Queens drive although a 30 mph zone is a narrow road with cars parked either side all the way down. The speed limit is a limit not a goal
Ive thought for a long time that speed bumps are needed on Queens Drive, even though from memory CE no longer put down speed bumps as standard. This has confirmed what a good idea this would be to slow everyone down. Its a heavily built up area with a lot of pedestrians crossing to the park and it requires something to be done to make it a safer place for everyone.

Definitely cameras are needed and constant patrol. It’s unsafe out there . Boy Racers by the score without anyone around to stop it. Parking on these roads and Estates causes dangers . The housing isn’t providing adequate spaces so that should be made clear before anyone takes the Property over.
Let’s hope they put her in prison and make an example of her.
50 percent of every car I see, they are on their phones which is just as bad as drink driving, Nantwich being very small but heavily populated and congested makes the roads here very dangerous. I fear we will probably see at lot more of this, I hate to say it but we need traffic cameras everywhere
This has been waiting to happen for a long time. There have also been near misses involving children and elderly crossing the road to access footpaths by the river to the town.
Since the estate was built at the canal end it has become a race track.
With on road parking close to corners making visibility to oncoming traffic impossible. And passing is difficult at best. But it’s the speed of some drivers given the parking by the roadside (town centre workers are now using this road as a free car park since CE price rise to town car parks).
As a resident of the area I see this every day, I myself have been subject to being overtaken while I was driving at 25mph by a car proceeding from the canal estate towards Welsh row.
Measures need to be taken before it’s more than just a damaged car !
So lucky no one was injured or worse, why take the risk, no drinking is worth what could have happened, lives taken will haunt you forever, and what for? a glass of cheap plonk!
