Acton Operatic Society is taking to the stage in a lavish production of Oliver, thanks to support by local employer Mornflake.
A cast of more than 60 will tread the boards at Crewe Lyceum from Wednesday October 22 to Saturday October 25 with final dress rehearsals taking place this week.
The society, a registered charity, was founded in 1920 to support other local charities and help develop musical and dramatic talent in South Cheshire.
It stages one big musical production each year at Crewe Lyceum Theatre – last year’s Legally Blonde was a big success.
A spokesman said: “For over 100 years we have offered the local area high quality entertainment and helped many aspiring performers achieve their dreams of performing on stage.
“However, it’s getting increasingly difficult to raise the funds needed to keep the society going year on year.
“So on behalf of everyone associated with Acton AOS, we would like to say a massive thank you to Mornflake for its extremely generous donation to our society for our upcoming production of Oliver.
“The costs associated with musical theatre are massive and Mornflake has not only made a substantial difference to our society with this kind and generous donation but has also done a great service to local community theatre.”
Acton Operatic Society is one of several organisations supported by Mornflake in its 350th anniversary year.
This summer the company welcomed HRH The Princess Royal to open a new ‘Oat Milling Centre of Excellence’ at its Gresty Road headquarters in Crewe.
As a major employer of more than 350, the family business supports health and wellbeing in the community, supporting organisations that encourage healthy lifestyles and combat isolation.
