Nantwich Town secured their third successive league win to move into the top 10 in the Northern Premier League West division.

The Dabber overcame Clitheroe thanks to goals from Alex Panter, Fenton Green and Byron Harrison in an entertaining clash at Swansway Stadium.

Despite heavy rain and strong winds, both teams made a go of it in front of 270 hardy supporters.

Bircumshaw had to clear off the line on 21 minutes as the visitors threatened the Nantwich goal.

But the hosts took the lead on 38 minutes when Green fired home an unstoppable shot to give the Dabbers a 1-0 advantage.

The hosts looked to hold on to the break, but were not able to as Clitheroe levelled on a minute into first half added on time.

A low ball into the box was turned home by Luke Gill for 1-1.

It didn’t take Nantwich too long to regain the lead when Alex Panter scored nine minutes after the restart.

A low ball was fired in to Panter who had his back to goal, and he turned smartly to find space and finish well.

The hosts should have made it 3-1 five minutes later when an effort cannoned off the post before Clitheroe keeper McClenaghan makes somehow saved the rebound on the line.

At the other end, Ben Garratt made a smart stop to deny Briggs from close range.

And moments later, Byron Harrison looked to have sealed the points when he raced through on goal to finish emphatically.

The visitors battled to the end though, and made it a nervy finish for Nantwich when they reduced the arrears in the 87th minute.

A ball was driven through a crowd of bodies in the box by Veron Parny and it somehow made it past Garratt for 3-2.

But the Dabbers managed to hang on despite some penalty box scrambles in added on time.
