Coffee giant Starbucks have confirmed plans to open a new store in Nantwich after submitting proposals for new signage.
The new store is set to be in the former WHSmith shop at 35 High Street, where refurbishment work has been taking place for months.
In their new application to Cheshire East Council, Starbucks have applied for Advertisement Consent for a projecting sign, fascia wordmark, internally mounted roundel, fascia wordmark, and another projecting sign.
It has been submitted by Gary Taylor of 23.5 Degrees Limited – the UK’s largest franchise of Starbucks outlets.
A public consultation on the plans is open until November 13th and CEC officers are hoping to decide on the application by November 27th.
The application includes drawings of how the store will look inside (pictured).

We revealed earlier this year how 23.5 Degrees launched an advert for a “store manager” in Nantwich.
The company already operates more than 100 Starbucks outlets in the UK.
The advert, offering a salary of between £29,925 to £32,025, incorrectly showed the proposed outlet where the current WHSmith store is on the corner of Mill Street and High Street.
However, when asked at the time, Starbucks declined to confirm any new location.
We have approached Starbucks again for an updated statement on their plans.
The news comes on the heels of plans for two other major brands – Greggs and Burger King – looking to open in the town.
Greggs and Burger King want to open takeaway outlets at the Motor Fuel Group service station at Morrisons.
They have been given approval by Cheshire East Council, despite a series of objections.

The people of Nantwich should boycott the place and support smaller local businesses
To much of the old world vibe, cant lend itself to the 21 century. Everything is under a Grade listed preservation order, nothing can ever be knocked down.
How many more drinking & eating establishments does one small town really need ?
Where does the cost of living crisis fit in ?
Obviously too many people with plenty of money to waste
Nothing left really in Nantwich now , Eating / Drinking/ Nails / Beauty / Hairdressers / charity
It’s on its way down hill
I’m reading the comments thinking…
Am I living amongst morons?
What about some diversity among the shops in the town?
Fast Food, Coffee Shops and Charity Shops… what a balanced local economy.
Run by morons, for morons…
Better than yet another charity shop
Hopefully this will pave the way for a much needed Wetherspoons
We really don’t need another coffee shop especially as their coffee is awful. What we could do with is a good Italian or Spanish restaurant that opens in the evening. It could give the other Italian restaurant a run for it’s money. It is in a nice central location too
Ill be the manager for free SEEMS like a wonderful casue, call meup at 07940 485359 idlove to have a chat
Oh Another cafe
Where’s the retail clothes shops ?????
Sad that a beautiful historic building will be hijacked by American consumerism and there is not a lack of coffee places in Nantwich
Great news I love the Pumkin spice latte
Just to confirm to Nantwich News, 35 High Street is the Old WH Smith’s stationery shop on the corner of Mill Street and not the unit shown in the picture.
Hence why as someone points out there is limited seating!!
Just what we need.
More overpriced coffee shops 🤣🤣
“offering a salary of between £29,925 to £32,025,” who one earth is going to manage a shop that size for only £30K. Do people really earn as little as that? No wonder people prefer to claim benefits
doesn’t look sustainable hardly any seating
George Meredith thinks this is cool
