The annual Poppy Appeal will officially launch in Nantwich tomorrow (October 25th), writes Jonathan White.

Members of Nantwich & District Branch of the Royal British Legion will take to the town square for a day dedicated to remembrance and fundraising.

Volunteers from the branch will be running a Poppy Appeal stall in Nantwich from 10am to 4pm, raising funds and awareness for veterans, serving personnel, and their families.

The stall will return to Nantwich town square on Saturday November 1st (10am–2pm) and Saturday November 8th (10am–2pm).

Visitors to the square will find traditional paper poppies alongside other items including car poppies, enamel pins, and wooden crosses.

Members of the Royal British Legion Riders Branch will make a one-day visit to Nantwich tomorrow, arriving on the town square at around 4.15pm in a motorcycle cavalcade to show their support for the appeal.

The launch marks the start of the Remembrance season in Nantwich.

In the lead-up, local RBL volunteers have been distributing poppy collection boxes to schools, shops, and supermarkets across the area.

A spokesperson for the Nantwich & District Branch of the Royal British Legion said: “The Poppy Appeal is a vital part of our mission to honour those who have served and to support those who continue to serve.

“Every donation, no matter how small, makes a genuine difference to veterans and their families.

“We’re deeply grateful for the continued generosity and compassion shown by the people of Nantwich each year.”

The Royal British Legion, the UK’s largest Armed Forces charity, provides lifelong support to more than two million veterans and their loved ones.

Funds raised during the appeal help deliver essential services, from housing and financial advice to mental health support and rehabilitation.

In Nantwich, this year’s Remembrance Parade and Service will take place on Sunday 9th November.

It will start at 10.30am from Nantwich Civic Hall and proceeding to the Town Square, where the Act of Remembrance will be held at the War Memorial.

The ceremony will include a two-minute silence, wreath-laying, and music from the Cheshire Constabulary Band.
