Nantwich Town top scorer Alex Panter has signed a contract to remain with the Dabbers.
It comes after it emerged there has been interest in the striker from a Step 3 club.
Panter has eight goals in all competitions this season, including one in yesterday’s defeat by Lower Breck, and has 10 goals in 37 games since joining the club in January.
Up to the end of the 2023/24 season he was at Poynton in the Cheshire League, scoring 20 goals in that campaign as they won three trophies.
That earned him a move into the North West Counties system with Maine Road in the 10th tier.
The step up didn’t seem to faze him and between July and November 2024 he scored 11 goals and set up four more in 23 appearances.
This caught the attention of Wythenshawe Town, who he made nine appearances for after joining in November 2024 before joining the Dabbers.
Manager Jon Moran said: “We are absolutely delighted to have Alex at Nantwich for the foreseeable and even more delighted that he is trusting us with his development.
“He has come on leaps and bounds and whilst we would love to take some of the credit, this is down to the person Alex is.
“For a player who gives 110% every time he steps on a pitch and someone who plays with such heart and pride, we are lucky to have him.
“Alex is a testament to Nantwich Town and is everything I look for in a player.
“We have supported him and given him the chance to prove himself and he has done just that and more.
“He deserves commitment from us and we truly believe he will be a player that progresses exponentially and we are so excited to be a big part of that.
“Please join me in congratulating Alex and let’s continue to give him the support he needs to kick on.”
