Local theatre groups Curtain Call Productions, YSD, CAMS and Together We Dance joined forces for an epic fundraiser in aid of Alzheimer’s Society at The Lyceum on Sunday night, writes Claire Faulkner.
Hosted by Sam and Natalie, the audience were treated to a packed show full of energy and high-quality performances.
The show ran seamlessly, the acts complimenting each other perfectly. There were solos, dances and choreographed group numbers from well-known shows.
This production highlights the wealth of talent we have in our local theatre groups. Every single performer belonged on that stage.
The performances were all so good it’s difficult to pick a favourite.
Erin Harrington stole the hearts of the audience singing In Summer from Frozen. She looked so confident performing on that big stage on her own.
The audience also gave a huge round of applause for Ellie Morris Davies who sang Somewhere Over the Rainbow.
I really enjoyed the uplifting energy and humour that the group numbers from Matilda and There’s Something about Jamie had, and the songs from Les Misérables sounded absolutely amazing.
The show also gave everyone present the opportunity to remember the life of Yvonne Chesters.
Yvonne was Principal and founder of YSD Theatre School and Patron of Curtain Call, she helped many young people in the area to find their feet on stage and taught them a love of performing.
The audience didn’t want the show to end and gave the cast a very well-deserved standing ovation.
Congratulations to all those involved.
