Wych-Malbank Rotary 7th birthday event

Wych-Malbank (Nantwich) Rotary Club has marked its seventh anniversary with a “Big Birthday Bash” at Richmond Village Nantwich.

And at the event it emerged big-hearted members had raised £7,640 for two local charities this year – St Luke’s Cheshire Hospice and The Nantwich Christie Hospital Support Group.

Angela Slack, from St Luke’s Hospice, said: “What a brilliant amount to raise, this will make such a difference.”

The birthday event – sponsored by Hibberts Solicitors, The Andrew Connolly Practice and Afford Bond – started with cocktails, sponsored by Nantwich Gin and Salon Vie, followed by a three-course meal all accompanied by the music of Alisdair Mackenzie on saxophone and clarinet.

There was also an auction for events such as a private tour of Nantwich Platers Theatre and the chance to create your own Snugbury’s Ice Cream flavour.

Event organisers Clare Hoy, Jo Lowry and Jennifer Newton said they were delighted at how successful the night had been.

Clare said: “We could not do this without the generosity of so many people all of whom have contributed to helping us raise so much money.

“From the main sponsors Hibberts Solicitors to those who bought tickets, we all want to say a huge thank you.”

Wych-Malbank Rotary meets at Richmond Village on Wednesday mornings.

The group is always looking for good causes to support through fund-raising events or with a donation of money or time.
