Runners, walkers, and families with pushchairs gathered in Barony Park in Nantwich for the latest edition of Dabbers Dash, writes Jonathan White.
The event, open to all ages and abilities, takes place at 9am one Saturday each month with participants taking on up to 3.5 laps of the park — a 5km route — at their own pace.
Pride flags mark the start and finish points, highlighting the event’s commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
This month’s Dash was a joint effort between four community organisations – PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Suicide (represented by Charlotte), Men in Sheds – Nantwich (Andrew), Her-Place Charitable Trust (Kate), and Mentell.
Dabbers Dash founder and event organiser Paul McIntyre said: “A heartfelt thanks to those who came to Dabbers Dash.
“As is typical for November, the weather was cold.
“It reminded me how exactly three years ago we did our first Dash with a charity in attendance to encourage people to come and exercise around a common cause of making the most of our community and the fantastic people in it.
“Since then we’ve helped boost awareness of more than 36 different patient groups, causes and charities as well as help a lot of people find help if they or loved ones need it.
“Today we had the privilege of multiple groups coming to the Dash and it resulted in many of them exchanging details — such as Men in Sheds with a local farmer, and Papyrus with people who work in a local college to make sure their support materials get in front of the people who need them.
“Ask yourself and loved ones how they’re doing out of ten. Depending on that score, consider looking up some of the above groups as they all really do pick folks up.”
The next Dabbers Dash will take place on Saturday December 20th in collaboration with the YMCA, featuring an optional festive theme — though participants are encouraged to simply wear whatever feels comfortable.
