Nantwich sparkled with festive spirit as the St Luke’s Hospice Christmas Tree Festival filled St Mary’s Church with colour, light, and Christmas cheer, writes Jonathan White.
The historic Church Lane church was transformed into a dazzling winter wonderland, featuring 53 beautifully decorated Premium Nordmann Fir trees.
Visitors wandered through a forest of festive creativity, with 20 4–5ft trees lining the aisles, 32 majestic 6–7ft trees reaching up towards the rafters, and a stunning 8ft St Luke’s Memory Baubles tree glowing with heartfelt messages.
Every tree was designed and sponsored by local businesses, community groups, and supporters, complete with information boards and QR codes so guests could discover the stories behind each sparkling display.
Taking centre stage was the show-stopping 16ft St Mary’s Christmas tree, adorned with more than 2,500 twinkling lights.

Festivities began with a sold-out opening night where Mark Daniels delighted the crowd with his Swing into Christmas performance on Thursday November 20th.
The celebrations continued on Saturday with a cosy Christmas Cinema experience, inviting families to screenings of Elf and the 1951 classic A Christmas Carol.
The festival was a true celebration of community, organised by St Luke’s Hospice in partnership with St Mary’s Nantwich.
Local businesses played a key role with 4–5ft and 6–7ft trees supplied by Nantwich Christmas Tree Farm, the 16ft centrepiece provided by Crewe Road Nurseries, and display boards installed by Richard Potter Timber along the North and South aisles.

Since 1988, St Luke’s Hospice has provided palliative and holistic care to local people.
Last year, more than 1,000 people received support ranging from end-of-life care and bereavement support for children to rehabilitation help for those returning to work after serious illness.
Community events like the Christmas Tree Festival are essential in keeping their vital services going.
