St Luke’s Hospice is inviting supporters to register their real Christmas trees for collection this January in exchange for a donation towards patient care.
Teams of dedicated staff and volunteers will be out across the community from Thursday 8th to Sunday 11th January, collecting and recycling trees as part of the hospice’s popular annual fundraiser.
Over the past 14 years, the fundraiser has gone from strength to strength.
An incredible 33,941 trees have been collected, raising over £500,000 to support local patients and their families.
St Luke’s events lead Debra Sloan said: “We’re excited to once again offer this valuable service to the community, giving our supporters the chance to avoid any unwanted stress in the New Year.
“It’s simple, convenient, good for the environment and directly supports the work of the Hospice. It’s a win win!”
After collection, every tree is chipped and reused locally as mulch, helping suppress weeds naturally and reducing the need for chemical weedkillers – making the service as eco-friendly as it is impactful.
The Christmas Tree Collection is run in partnership with JustHelping, a charity that works with hospices across the UK to turn Christmas trees into much-needed local support.
