The busy A500 was temporarily closed after a vehicle crashed into roadside signage.

Fire and police were called to the scene at around midday yesterday (December 14th) where the incident happened at the A500/A531 roundabout in Weston, Crewe.

Cheshire Fire Service said the incident involved one car, which is believed to have collided with roadside infrastructure.

The A500 was closed by police for a time between Weston roundabout (towards Nantwich) and Shavington roundabout.

A Cheshire Fire spokesperson said: “The occupant of the vehicle was out before firefighters arrived and is not believed to have suffered any serious injuries.

“Fire crews made up equipment and left the incident with the police.”

  1. The A 500 is used like a race track by some drivers ……it’s 70 MPH ….
    But many exceed this ….
    Then they hit the roundabouts???

No amount of safety signs or barriers will stop stupidity..

  2. Many drivers feel that they should continue driving at the speed at which they have travelled on the M6. The road is dual carriageway with several roundabouts; some drivers “use” the roundabouts of a way to “overtake” other drivers who are in the correct lane. Remember, if you drive, say, 10 mph slower, you stand more chance of getting home safely and enjoying the evening with those you love!

  3. always too fast there, just chill its not a race

  4. It’s fortunate that the driver wasn’t seriously injured, but this incident highlights how even minor collisions with roadside infrastructure can cause significant traffic disruption. It raises questions about whether additional safety measures, like better signage visibility or barriers, could prevent similar incidents in busy areas like the A500.

    • The crash is unlikely to have been prevented had the signange, visibility or barriers been better. The crash is likely to have been due to other factors perhaps speed, driver inattention, fault with the car etc.
