
An official Flood Alert has been issued for the River Weaver catchment area including Nantwich after heavy rainfall yesterday.
The Environment Agency issued the alert at 11am today (December 16th) to cover the whole Weaver catchment including Nantwich, Frodsham, Crewe, Winsford and Northwich.
Although a dry day today, more heavy rain is forecast tomorrow and Thursday.
An Environment Agency spokesperson said: “Levels remain high today, 16th December 2025.
“Locations most affected will be low lying land and roads around the Rivers Weaver, Ducklow and Wheelock and their tributaries.
“We are closely monitoring the situation.
“Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses.”
It is one of 85 Flood Alerts and 12 Flood Warnings currently in place across the UK following a period of very wet weather.
