Morrisons car wash and filling station Nantwich - Google Maps

Plans to open a Burger King fast food outlet at a Nantwich petrol station have been ditched, according to latest reports.

But Motor Fuel Group still plan to open a Greggs takeaway branch under amended proposals for its filling station at Morrisons supermarket on Pratchett’s Row.

Under new plans, there would no longer be a Burger King and instead the company would retain its car wash facility and not demolish it.

Updated plans also show it would no longer include an EV charging zone but does include four new jet wash bays.

In a statement, the company said: “This application seeks to amend the scheme and introduce key changes compared to the previous permission.

“Retain the existing car wash, propose four jet wash bays, propose a smaller extension for a food-to-go unit and back of house for existing sales building, and remove the EV charging due to the absence of a power supply.”

The amended application, submitted to Cheshire East on December 9th, says the existing fuel station shop will be extended instead, to “provide an improved offering to visiting motorists”.

Much of the updated plans remain the same as the original planning application which included a Burger King and was approved in September, despite 20 letters of objection received by Cheshire East Council.

Conditions included landscaping, use of materials, waste management, tests for land contamination and opening hours.

Opening hours for the Greggs food takeaway were set at 6am to 6pm Monday to Saturday for Greggs, and 7am to 4pm on Sundays or Public Holidays.

The letters of objection were from residents living nearby the site, and one letter from Sustainable Nantwich.

Objections listed a range of reasons including increased traffic congestion, rise in noise and air pollution, litter and “throwaway” culture, anti-social behaviour, “cheapens the town”, damages character of Nantwich, cooking odours, encouraging unhealthy eating among others.

Residents can view the updated plans on Cheshire East’s planning portal and have until February 3rd to submit their views.

  1. A better idea would be ready made from chill/oven in 6- 20mins then you could have inhouse catering using all their products, a far healthier option and as quick as waiting for a take out, with less staffing overheads.

currently unless you are happy with a crisp sandwich followed by cake and chocolate the store is of little use as it is

  2. Wooo great news…. having seen the queues and absolute paralysation of the roads in Crewe around Grand Junction retail park. Literally cars cant get off the roundabout due to queues of those unable to turn into the BK drive through. Constant queues where there were never queues before.

I think the same would have happened with Nantwich.

Keeping in mind BK Crewe is brand new and the air filtration is the best it will ever be… it still STINKS !
