After more than 20 years as a town centre landmark Nantwich Bookshop has a new story to tell!
The café side of the High Street business is currently being sold.
And owners Steve and Denise are now looking for new premises to operate an independent book shop in Nantwich.
But in the meantime they’ve been busy with a new idea – buying a bus which they intend to run as a mobile book shop!
Steve said: “We have bought the bus, stripped the interior and invited a couple of carpenters to provide quotations for fitting out.
“I’ve had my medical exam and sent of relevant docs to the DVLA to begin the process of getting my bus licence.
“We are hoping to get the bus ‘wrapped’ with book style images and have it ready to go out late January or early February.
“We’d really like to hear from organisations such as parish councils, schools and care homes who would like the bus to visit on a fortnightly basis where people can browse the selection on-board or collect pre-ordered books.”
Steve and Denise took over the High Street landmark in 2003 and opened their popular coffee lounge a year later.
Back in July, Denise told Nantwich News about their plans to sell saying it had been a ‘hard decision’ to make.
Steve confirmed plans to open new premises.
“We are looking for a physical shop, preferably in Nantwich,” he added.
He said the sale of their High Street business was “going through” and would hopefully complete soon.
Details of the buyer have not been disclosed.

Good luck with the bus
Re the driving licence 😬😬😬
I submitted mine in September and I still don’t have any idea when I will get it back. And there’s almost no point in phoning dvla as they can’t tell you how long it will be.
