A two-vehicle smash on the A500 between Shavington Bypass and the M6 has closed the road for 12 hours.
Police say there were no serious injuries from the accident on the single carriageway stretch between Meremoor roundabout and junction 16.
But the crash caused damage to the carriageway which forced repairs to be carried out by Cheshire East Highways.
A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: “At 7.50pm on Thursday 5 February, police were called to reports of a collision on the A500 between the M6 and Meremoor roundabout.
“Officers attended and found the collision involved a black Audi A4 and a grey Peugeot 2008.
“Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service and North West Ambulance Service were also called to the scene, although there were no reports of any serious injuries.
“Officers left the scene at 11.50pm, and the incident was handed over to Highways officers for resurfacing to be undertaken.”
