An early penalty by Byron Harrison was enough to give Nantwich Town all three points at home to Newcastle Town.
The victory moves the Dabbers up to ninth in Northern Premier League West, but still 14 points off the play-offs.
Harrison earned the penalty himself in the fifth minute when he was felled in the box by Newcastle keeper Joe Slinn.
He coolly sent Slinn the wrong way from the spot to give the Dabbers what proved to be the decisive lead.

Bower should have levelled a few minutes later when he robbed Nantwich keeper Ben Garratt of the ball but could only fire into the side netting.
Hunter went close for the visitors with a shot over the top, and he was also denied later by a good Garratt save.
Byron Moore’s snapshot went close to doubling Nantwich’s advantage a few minutes into the second half.
Joel Jones forced another good save from Garratt on the hour mark as Newcastle pressed for a leveller.
Both teams testing the opposition keeper as the game opened up more with the visitors seeking an equaliser.
And it boiled over in injury time when Newcastle’s Bowden was shown a straight red card for a high challenge on Kennedy.
The Dabbers held out for the final few minutes to secure a much-needed victory in front of more than 400 supporters at the Swansway Stadium.
