Sophie and James Need - europe award

The family-run Need Golf centre in Nantwich has taken its success to the international stage after being named Toptracer Range of the Year at the 2026 EMEA Awards in Madrid.

Need Golf has been recognised as the number one Toptracer range across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

It marks a major milestone for the independent facility just weeks after being crowned England Golf’s Facility of the Year.

The award places Need Golf among the very best in the world.

Globally, there are more than 1,550 Toptracer-enabled ranges across 38 countries, with more than 550 in Europe alone.

Founded by husband-and-wife team James and Sophie Need, the venue has transformed from an empty agricultural field into one of the most progressive golf facilities in the country in just six years.

Collecting the award in Madrid, Sophie said: “To be recognised on an international stage like this is incredibly special.

“When you look at the scale and quality of facilities across Europe and beyond, to be named number one is something we’re hugely proud of.

“We didn’t set out to win awards, we set out to change golf for the better and get more people playing.”

Need Golf has become known for its inclusive approach, using technology-led experiences to make the game more accessible, sociable and appealing.

Toptracer technology allows players to track shots, play virtual courses and enjoy interactive games, helping to remove traditional barriers to entry and attract families, beginners and younger players into the sport.

Sophie added: “We’re incredibly passionate about off-course golf.

“It’s the most accessible entry point into the game and plays a huge role in growing participation.

“It doesn’t replace traditional golf, it feeds it. It gives people a first experience in a relaxed, welcoming environment, and builds confidence to take that next step.”

The latest accolade adds to a growing list of achievements for the venue located off Main Road, between Reaseheath and Worleston.

It welcomes more than 50,000 visitors each year.

Sophie added: “This award isn’t the finish line, it’s fuel for what comes next. We’re continuing to invest, evolve and push forward with our mission to make golf more inclusive, more modern and more accessible for everyone.”
