Music lovers were treated to a lively trip down memory lane as Nantwich Concert Band brought the sounds of the 1990s to life in a family-friendly performance.
The ‘Nantwich’s Nineties Playlist’ concert at the Swansway Stadium featured an energetic and feel-good selection of hits spanning Britpop classics and blockbuster film soundtracks.
Following the success of the band’s previous themed concerts celebrating the 60s and 80s, this latest instalment proved equally popular, with audiences enjoying a packed programme of instantly recognisable tunes performed live by the town’s community concert band.
The setlist included favourites such as Pokémon, The Nineties (Decade of Hits), I’ll Stand By You, Keeping Up Appearances, Smells Like Teen Spirit, Seasons of Love, The Lion King, Wonderwall and Barbie Girl.
The concert ended on a high, with an encore performance of Britney Spears’ …Baby One More Time getting the audience on their feet and clapping along.
A spokesperson for Nantwich Concert Band said: “It was fantastic to see so many people come along and enjoy an afternoon of music celebrating such an iconic decade.
“The 90s gave us an incredible mix of styles and sounds, and we loved bringing those favourites to life for our audience.
“Their energy and support really made it a special occasion for everyone involved.”
The band rehearses every Wednesday from 7.30pm to 9.15pm at Highfields Academy in Nantwich, and welcomes new players.
Throughout the year, Nantwich Concert Band performs at events including fetes, weddings, corporate functions and festive celebrations.
Their next appearance will be at ‘The Funky Choir and Friends’ musical extravaganza on Saturday April 18th (10am–5pm) in Nantwich Town Square.
The free event will feature performances from The Funky Choir, Nantwich Concert Band, MicWire, The Lostock Ukulele Group, The Grove Singers and Crewe Brass Band.
