puppies - update on dumped puppies found in box

Six puppies found dumped in a box by a busy Nantwich road are now thriving and “full of beans” more than eight weeks on.

The puppies are being looked after by Emma Caskie, of Nantwich-based Animal Lifeline charity.

There were seven puppies originally found back in February, but sadly one of them did not survive.

However, the other six are clearly doing well as this photo shows!

Emma said: “Two have had to have eye operations for entropian at Nantwich Pet Vets.

“This is where the eyelashes curl inwards, and one of the two pups had to have an eye removed as it was too damaged by the condition to save.

“But they are all full of beans and doing really well!”

The dumped cardboard box with the puppies in was found by a passerby just off the A530 Middlewich Road, and they took them straight to Animal Lifeline.

Emma said she will continue to foster the puppies but will be looking for new homes for them once they are vaccinated and have had full health check.

The charity also launched an appeal to find the mother who could need help as the puppies were very recently born.

Emma added: “The pups didn’t seem to have been away from mum long as they weren’t cold or really hungry.

“We are concerned the mum could need veterinary care.

“As a charity we would like to offer the owners a vet check up for the mum if she needs it.

“If she couldn’t feed the puppies for whatever reason or didn’t want the pups there may be a veterinary reason that could put her at risk as well as the puppies.”
