Nantwich Town Council has launched a story writing competition and is encouraging primary school children to get involved.

The competition is part of the council’s “Love Your Market” campaign and the National Year of Reading.

Children are encouraged to create a short story inspired by the market, along with their own original illustration.

The competition aims to promote literacy, encourage creativity, and support engagement with the local community.

The winning entry will be displayed at Nantwich Market and read aloud by the Mayor of Nantwich on Saturday May 30th.

The winner will also receive Nantwich Market vouchers. All entries will be showcased during the “Love Your Market” campaign.

The closing date for submissions is Friday May 15th.

The competition is open to primary school-aged children who live in Nantwich or attend a local primary school.

Each entry should include a story linked to Nantwich Market and an original illustration.

Entries can be sent by post to Sydney Titley, Nantwich Town Council, Nantwich Civic Hall, Market Street, Nantwich, CW5 5DG,.

They can be delivered by hand to Nantwich Civic Hall or submitted by email as a clear photograph to [email protected]

For postal or hand-delivered entries, ensure the participant’s name, age, contact number, and school are written on the reverse.

For email submissions, these details should be included in the email.
