Police and RSPCA say they are continuing to investigate the death of a dog found in a canal in Nantwich with heavy chains around its body.

The grim discovery was made by walkers by bridge 89 which spans the Shropshire Union Canal south of Marsh Lane and north of the A530 Whitchurch Road.

Conservative candidate Philip Staley has been elected to Nantwich Town Council to represent Nantwich South.

Mr Staley polled 602 votes in yesterday’s election, ahead of Labour’s Richard Banks (395) and Independent candidate Riddell Graham (304).

Town council backs “effective CCTV” in Nantwich after flower vandals caught

Town councillors in Nantwich say CCTV is effective in the town after five teenagers were caught on camera vandalising flowers and plants.

Nantwich Police officers were able to identify and trace the youths from the CCTV images catching them in the act in the town square and Pepper Street.
