Sam Youds century for Vagrants over Checkley

A Sam Youds century helped Crewe Vagrants 1sts earn a five-wicket victory over Checkley in North Staffordshire South Cheshire League Division One.

Chasing 214 to win, Willaston-based Vagrants looked in trouble when they slipped to 27 for 3.

But then some strong partnerships enabled the team to fight back and beat Checkley with five overs to spare.

Top scorer Youds (pictured) led the way with an excellent 100 not out, and he was brilliantly supported by captain Ryan Briddon (51) and Faisal Mahmood (20 not out).

Meanwhile, Crewe Vagrants 2nds slipped to defeat at home to JG Meakin.

There were some notable performances from Alex Yohannan Usha who scored 34 and took four wickets, and Haveesh Alluri who took a hat-trick of wickets.

This weekend, Vagrants 1sts are at home to Sandyford CC and the 2nd team are away at Oakamoor CC.

The 3rd team also have a cup quarter-final away to Holmes Chapel CC on Sunday.
