A growing men’s walking group in Nantwich is encouraging more to make the most of the lighter evenings and warmer weather by joining its free weekly wellbeing walks.
The Nantwich branch of “Men Walking and Talking” has gone from strength to strength since launching in December 2024.
The group offers a simple but powerful way for men to connect and talk about issues affecting them.
Men walk side by side, enjoy gentle exercise and chat in a relaxed, welcoming environment.
It is open to men aged 18 and over and aims to break down stigma around men’s mental health while helping tackle loneliness.
Part of a national network of more than 80 groups across the UK, the Nantwich branch was set up with support from Dave Carter, founder of the successful Sandbach group.
Across the country, the initiative has grown rapidly, with more than 20,000 men taking part in walks over the past year.
Group leader Steve Marvell is keen to welcome new faces as the seasons change.
He said: “With the evenings brighter and the weather improving, there’s never been a better time to come along.
“You don’t need to be super fit or know anyone — just turn up, have a walk and a chat.
“It’s amazing how much a simple conversation outdoors can lift your mood.”
The Nantwich group meets every Monday at 6.30pm at the Nantwich War Memorial in the town centre. There’s no need to book — just turn up and join in, completely free of charge.
