
Crewe Vagrants 1st team beat a strong Sandyford CC by three wickets in a high quality Division One match.
Batting first Sandyford got off to strong start and raced to 61 for 0 after 16 overs, only to be pegged back to finish on 165 for 8 with all six Crewe bowlers taking wickets.
Crewe started badly slipping to 20 for 3 before a 72-run partnership between Rory Kalnins (pictured) and Sam Youds began the recovery.
Youds was out for 41 and Kalnins then built some good partnerships with Faisal Mahmood and Alex Yohannan Usha to get Crewe across the line with 4.2 overs to spare, with Cal Meakin hitting the winning runs.
Kalnins finished on 75 not out in addition to taking two wickets.
Other notable mentions go to Piers Stockton for three excellent catches and Alex Yohannan Usha for a strong all round debut.
Crewe Vagrants 2nds drew with Oakamoor CC in Division Six. Crewe fielded a number of debutants and responding to Oakamoor’s 222 for 5, Crewe reached 169 for 4 at the close.
There were a number of standout performances from Mark Hurst (79) and Matt Whittingham (42) as well as Ryan Gordon (19) on debut.

Crewe CC Women’s 1st team beat Elworth in Division 4 West of the Cheshire Women Hardball Cricket League.
Elworth batted first and scored 90 for 7 in their 20 overs. Amy Bourne (three) and Bela Smith (two) were the top wicket takers though the whole bowling attack performed well.
Crewe reached the target in 16.1 overs scoring 94 for 4 with Alison Smith leading the way with 32 not out.
Crewe Men’s 3rd team reached the semi-final of the Roy Bradburn Cup with a 142-run victory over Holmes Chapel CC.
Debutant Bharath Sriramula made a stunning first appearance scoring 171 not out off 84 balls.
His innings included 15 fours and 13 sixes. He was supported by Puny Nidamanuri (34) and Haveesh Alluri (50) as Crewe reached 324 for 5 in just 35 overs.
In reply, Holmes Chapel reached 182 for 3 in their allotted overs.
Special mention for 15-year-old Noah Smith who on debut bowled seven overs, including two maidens, for 35 runs.
