Nantwich Cricket Club are hoping for a bumper crowd as they bid to progress in the ECB National Club Championship on Sunday.

The first team, led by Luke Robinson (pictured), take on Barnt Green CC in the second round in a 40-over contest at Whitehouse Lane.

The game starts at 1pm and the bar and catering facilities will be open. All spectators are welcome, with Barnt Green, from the Birmingham and District League, planning on bringing good support.

In the ECB Premier League on Saturday, the firsts travel to Didsbury, hoping to get back to winning ways after losing another high-scoring game at Whitehouse Lane last weekend.

Chester Boughton Hall were the visitors and after winning the toss and electing to bat, they made 292-7 from their 55 overs.

Nantwich looked to be on track at several stages of their reply but lost wickets at crucial stages and eventually fell 25 runs short of their target.

Robinson (67) and Jackson Bentley (65) were the top scorers for the Dabbers.

Nantwich seconds fell to a heavy defeat at Chester. Chasing an unlikely 324 to win, only Sam Cork managed any serious resistance, finishing unbeaten on 38 as the visitors were bowled out for 135.

For the Saturday thirds, William Reyland and Jacob Howell took three wickets apiece as JG Meakins were bowled out for 130, but that was still enough for the home side, who were dismissed for 81.

This Saturday, the seconds entertain Toft at Whitehouse Lane. It is a midday start and all spectators are welcome.
