A new exhibition called “Across the Tracks – The Art of Nantwich Station Footbridge” is to be held at Nantwich Museum between June 9th-20th.
The footbridge – its design, construction and condition – is the subject of the temporary exhibition, curated by Malcolm Reid.
It will be held in the Community Gallery at the museum.
Nantwich Railway Station footbridge was built about 125 years ago.
Made of iron, this once proud structure is now corroded in places and needs a good coat of paint.
In its present condition, the footbridge overshadows the magnificent work done to maintain and improve the station environment by the Nantwich Railway Station Adoption Team, a voluntary group acting for the train operating company.
In the exhibition, a series of black and white photographs are presented.
These aim to emphasise the aesthetic appeal of the structure, particularly when elements are viewed in relation to each other, and from different angles and in contrasting light.
All the photographs were taken by Malcolm, a member of the Nantwich Railway Station Adoption Team and Nantwich in Bloom.
Financial support for the exhibition has been provided by 3 Counties Connected Community Rail Partnership.
Entry is free to the museum and exhibition, open from 10am-4pm Tuesday to Saturday.
