Nantwich patients are to get improved treatment for slips, trips and falls, at a new-look Orthopaedic Outpatients Department (OPD) at Leighton Hospital.

Local MP Edward Timpson helped officially unveil the new facility which offers better privacy for patients, with eight individual consultation rooms replacing the seven, old curtained cubicles.

The department, which includes the trust’s fracture clinic, has a specially designed plaster room (pictured), replacing the old one in a portable building.

Del Owen, matron for the trust’s surgery and cancer division, said: “The three-month refurbishment has created a much more efficient service and pleasant environment for patients, and has greatly improved the working conditions for our staff.

“The new reception and waiting area is light and airy, and also features a television for patients, courtesy of the hospital’s League of Friends charity organisation.”

Mr Timpson MP said: “I have been very impressed by the new treatment facilities. The people of Crewe, Nantwich and the surrounding areas will be well served by having such a valuable clinic on their doorstep.”
