
Winners from all ages celebrated victory at the Crewe Central Table Tennis Club 2025 Championships in Nantwich, writes Jonathan White.
The club – based on Regents Park off London Road – saw scores of players aged between 10 and 80 battle it out in various categories.
And it was Wai Ming Tai who emerged victorious, defeating Martin Shaw in the final.
Tai had edged past Dominic James in a gripping five-set semi, while Shaw held off Adam Stanway in another five-set thriller.
In the consolation event, Cameron Haslam impressed, beating Chris Harris in the final.
Rising star Callum Marquis claimed the Junior Singles title with a win over Will Anderton in a high-quality final.
In the Junior Doubles, Anderton bounced back, teaming up with Rosenbaum to take the title in a three-way group final.
They triumphed over Marquis and Owen, and the pairing of Liam Stockton and James Shields.

In the Over 60s class, Phil Barnish took home the Singles crown, defeating Paul Dunning in the final.
Dave Prince claimed the Consolation prize with a win over Steve Hayward.
Dunning partnered with Jan Johns to claim the Doubles title, gaining revenge on Barnish and Selby in the process.
In the singles 40s event, it was set to be a rematch of the Open final between Wai Ming Tai and Martin Shaw but was delayed due to illness.
Chris Anderton narrowly missed out in the group stages but went on to win the Consolation Singles, defeating Chris Harris.
In the veterans 70s and 80s competitions, Mel Green defeated Tom Osborne after edging a tight opening game.
The doubles was won by Paul Dunning and Ian Austin with Barry Davey and John Reader in second place.

In the singles, Martin Selby turned the tables on his Over 60s defeat, overcoming Dunning in five sets to be crowned champion.
The Championships came to a close with Open Doubles action.
Two round-robin groups of five led to semi-final clashes where youth met experience.
U15 stars Callum Marquis and Jensen Owen battled hard but lost in a deciding set to Sylwek Nowakowski and Mark Rhodes.
On the other side, Martin Shaw and Adam Stanway defeated Chris and Will Anderton – a father-son duo – to secure the title.
Crewe Central Table Tennis Club is based at The Bob Hope Academy on Regents Park and welcomes new players.
