Crewe Vagrants CC Men's team

Crewe Vagrants CC 1st team earned a key victory over Meakins Home in their bid for league honours.

Crewe lost Tate Rutter with only two runs on the board, before a run spree with Jack Harrison (1-27) the only Meakins wicket taker.

Ollie Jarvis hit 63, unluckily run out from the bowler’s deflection, and a supreme innings of 117 NO from Rory Kalnins took the score well past the 100 mark.

Lewis Bacon’s 58 not out continued the theme to set an improbable target of 263 for 2.

Only Meakins’ Ben Bennett (23), Taz Hussain (13) and Alfie Radlins (21) achieved double figures as class fielding and penetrative bowling ripped through the visitor’s batting order.

Ollie Jarvis’ pace (4-25) and Faisal Mahmood’s offies (3-24) assisted by one wicket each from Cal Bacon, Ben Jarvis and Rory Kalnins were all too much for Meakins.

They finished with 104 all out in just 30 overs.

Crewe CC Men’s 2nd team had a nail-biting successful encounter at Market Drayton.

The home side batting first fell foul to the excellent deliveries from Haveesh Alluri (3-19) and especially Frazier Hoye’s (5-16), at one stage 5-1.

Evans’ 33 helped Drayton’s score to a moderate 63 for 5, but a late recovery from D Fisher (65) and R Tanveer (27NO) managed a respectable target of 152 all out.

After a poor start, Crewe’s 29 for 4 was extended by Haveesh (14) and man of the match Frazier (88) to an eventual 147 for 9.

The winning run came fittingly from young Harry Wynne-Hughes (4NO) in a dramatic end and a 153 for 9.
