A Nantwich auction house and artist have teamed up to take part in the Gavel Art Trail & Auction.
Wilson55, on Market Street, is taking part to raise funds for The Brain Tumour Charity, The National Brain Appeal, and the International Children’s Palliative Care Network (ICPCN).
The trail is organised by the Bidpath Foundation, in collaboration with Wild in Art.
Wilson55 is one 15 auction houses around the UK taking part.
It has sponsored a hand-crafted 100cm gavel sculpture which will be painted by talented Nantwich artist and animator Lucy Manfredi.
Residents will be able to watch Lucy putting the finishing touches to her gavel art tomorrow (August 27) at the auction house.
Stephen Sparrow, Wilson55 managing director and Northern Art specialist, said: “We were honoured to be invited to take part in such a significant fundraising initiative.
“Our aim was for the gavel to embody the spirit and vibrancy of our renowned Northern Art sales, and with Lucy as our chosen artist, we knew it would be something truly special.
“Her remarkable talent and the unforgettable characters she creates make this the perfect piece to help raise vital funds for these outstanding causes.”
Lucy has been making waves in the Northern Art world and was tipped as a rising star by the renowned Hale art dealer, Bill Clark.
In 2018, she became an elected member of the Manchester Academy of Fine Arts (MAFA).
Once Lucy adds the finishing touches to the sculpture tomorrow, it will remain on display at Wilson55 in September and October, available for anyone to view as they follow the national art trail.
The grand finale will be on November 6th when all 15 one-of-a-kind gavels will be auctioned off as part of a major fundraising event in London.
