Pop sensation Sophie Ellis-Bextor brought sparkle and song to Nantwich with a special visit to the newly relocated Applestump Records yesterday (Sept 14th).
She was on hand to sign copies of her new album Perimenopop to the delight of hundreds of fans who queued down Oat Market for the chance to meet her.
The signing formed part of Sophie’s UK store tour, which has already taken in Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham and London.
Her latest release – her eighth studio album – has been hailed as a vibrant celebration of self-expression, featuring standout tracks including Freedom of the Night, Relentless Love and Vertigo.
Sophie first burst onto the scene in the early 2000s with chart-topping anthems such as Groovejet (If This Ain’t Love) and Murder on the Dancefloor, and has remained a favourite with British audiences thanks to her unmistakable voice, energetic live shows and even her much-loved “Kitchen Disco” livestreams during lockdown.

Away from the stage, she juggles life as a mum of five, podcast host, memoirist and regular TV personality.
Her visit came just days after Applestump Records celebrated its move from Barker Street to a larger town centre premises, giving the team more space to expand their vinyl collection and host even more events – from album signings and listening parties to intimate live performances.
The independent record shop, founded by Steve and Danielle Cook during the pandemic, has quickly grown from a lockdown start-up with just 80 records to a thriving community hub for music lovers.
In 2022, Steve even swapped his career as an internal auditor to follow his passion for music full-time.
Speaking after Sunday’s event, Steve said: “It was an incredible way to celebrate the opening of our new store.
“Having Sophie here was a real honour and the response from the Nantwich community has been amazing.”
