Thousands of pounds have been raised in memory of a Wistaston youngster who died of a rare cancer.
More than £3,500 was raised at a charity auction night held at Shavington Club in aid of the Owen McVeigh Foundation.
It was in memory of Georgy Capener who benefited from the foundation while he bravely battled his condition.
It was set up primarily to help children who are battling cancer and create special memories for them and their families.
It also runs a special centre called Peacock Lodge in the countryside where families can go during breaks from cancer treatment.
Georgy was diagnosed with the highly malignant Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer, following a fall in a friend’s garden on Easter Sunday in 2018.

He underwent many rounds of high dose aggressive chemotherapy and radiotherapy and lost the majority of his right arm as a result of the treatment.
Despite going into remission and the cancer returning, the football-mad 15-year-old continued to defy the odds but sadly died in December last year.
Georgy’s mum Helen Capener said: “We are so overwhelmed with the generosity of everyone for supporting Georgy and the Owen McVeigh foundation.
“From Steph and everyone at Shavington Club, the amazing acts that performed on the night, to everyone who donated prizes and to Samantha’s driving school for her hugely generous auction prize and of course to everyone who attended.
“Georgy was so lucky to be able to enjoy lots of amazing days out courtesy of the Owen McVeigh foundation.
“These days out mean the absolute world to poorly children and really gives them a focus to get out of bed so we are so proud to be able to give back and let other children have the same amazing experiences.”
A number of local businesses donated prizes on the fundraising night, including Samantha Thomas driving school package which was sold for £950.
