Nantwich Bookshop’s new “book bus” made a special delivery to primary pupils on World Book Day.
The bus drove up to Delamere CofE Academy on what of its first official journeys to deliver a donation of books from housebuilder L&Q.
World Book Day also coincides with the national Year of Reading, reinforcing the school’s commitment to fostering a love of reading among its pupils.
The school community embraced the occasion in style, with staff and children arriving in an array of colourful costumes inspired by their favourite literary characters.
Among those spotted around school were Gangsta Granny, Oompa Loompas, Harry Potter and The BFG and Alice in Wonderland, creating a vibrant and joyful atmosphere throughout the day.
And pupils had the chance to step into the travelling bookshop bus where they were able to browse and buy books.
The mobile bookshop proved a huge hit, with children eagerly selecting new stories to take home.
Beth Galley, literacy lead at Delamere CofE Academy, said: “We are incredibly grateful to L&Q for this generous gift of books for our children.
“Reading sits at the very heart of our school, and initiatives like this help to spark curiosity, imagination and a lifelong love of learning.
“To receive the books on World Book Day — and in the National Year of Reading — makes it even more special.
“We are also delighted that Nantwich Bookshop’s travelling bookshop bus was part of the celebration.
“It was a wonderful experience for our pupils and a fantastic way to bring stories to life.”
Delamere CofE Academy is part of North West Academies Trust, based in Chester.
The trust manages 12 primary and secondary schools across Cheshire and Shropshire, including Acton C0fE primary and Calveley Academy near Nantwich.
L&Q is currently building new homes at the nearby Earlsbrook development in Delamere.
