A Nantwich man has completed the 300-mile Cancer Research Challenge to celebrate his 50th birthday!
Neil Tinsley, a volunteer for Nantwich Christie Hospital Support Group, saddled up and rode 300 miles throughout September.
The accounts assistant at Swansway Motor Group has only just discovered cycling after turning 50.
So he accepted the challenge and cycled around the country lanes of Cheshire, taking in Nantwich, Peckforton, Beeston, Marbury, Audlem, Wybunbury and more, using his Strava cycling app.
Neil said: “I’ve been a volunteer for the Nantwich Christie Hospital Support Group for over 20 years.
“I’m currently the treasurer and we organise fund-raising events throughout the year.
“Sadly, cancer touches almost everyone’s life at some point, in some way, and I’ve always tried to help in any way I can.
“I started cycling just after my 50th birthday, so when Cancer Research UK came up with the challenge to cycle 300 miles in the 30 days of September, I decided to go for it.”
Neil has been fundraising with the Nantwich Christie Hospital Support Group since its formation in 1993, helping raise almost £400,000.
“I’ve had a number of friends who have been successfully treated at The Christie,” he added.
Neil’s fundraising page has currently raised £520 for Cancer Research UK thanks to his 300-mile challenge.
