An active travel, cycling and walking plan for Nantwich and other towns are to go out to public consultation, says Cheshire East Council.
The draft proposals for the latest “local cycling and walking infrastructure plans” (LCWIPs) were discussed by councillors at a highways committee.

Residents have urged Cheshire East to consider introducing a 20mph speed limit on restricted roads across the borough and asked why it isn’t included in the draft active travel strategy.
The call came at a meeting of the highways and transport committee where councillors were discussing the draft strategy and local cycling, walking and infrastructure plans.
Cheshire East Council has unveiled its first nine walking and cycling schemes to boost Covid-19 recovery – but none are in Nantwich.
The schemes are the first active travel projects to support the borough through the pandemic.

In the years that Cllr David Brown has been a Cheshire East borough councillor, he was the portfolio holder for highways and deputy leader of Cheshire East Council, until he lost his position due to a police enquiry over funding.
Nantwich could see pop-up cycle lanes, more walking routes, lower speed limits and wider pavements as part of plans to encourage more “active travel” among residents.
