At last week’s full Council meeting we witnessed an irate Independent Leader attempt to hold his Labour partners to account, as they kicked-back over scrapping the Strategic Planning Board to save money.
He spectacularly failed!

Cheshire East Council looks set to scrap one of its three planning committees to save money and make the system more efficient.
At present the authority has two “area committees” – northern and southern planning – which both have the same functions and responsibilities, but deal with planning matters on a geographical basis.
Cheshire East Council has announced the chairs and vice-chairs of its service committees following the May 4 elections.
Elected councillors will hold the following positions.
Cheshire East Council will hold its final meeting on May 4 before it changes from a Cabinet to committees system.
The authority’s Annual General Meeting will be held remotely on Tuesday 4 May, at 5pm.

Plans to scrap Cheshire East Council’s cabinet in May and replace it with a series of decision-making committees have been pushed back by 12 months.
Councillors agreed last May that CEC should work towards introducing the new system for 2020-21, but a first proposal for how that could be carried out was turned down last November.

A first proposal for how Cheshire East Council could ditch its cabinet in favour of a series of committees from next May has been turned down.
Following a petition last year and a manifesto commitment from independent councillors in May’s election, CEC agreed to work towards scrapping the cabinet at the May annual meeting.
