Plans to build 15 new homes in the green gap near Shavington have been rejected by Cheshire East Council.
Members of the southern planning committee unanimously rejected the scheme, which included four, three-bedroom affordable dwellings, at a meeting yesterday (August 8).
The Government’s decision to allow 300 homes to be built on Witters Field in Wistaston, has undermined the Nantwich-Crewe green gap.
That was the warning from Cheshire East Councillor Ainsley Arnold.
Councillors and campaigners in Wistaston are celebrating after an appeal won by Gladman Developments to build 300 homes was overturned by the Government.
Gladman wanted to build the homes on land off Church Lane, Wistaston, but were initially refused by Cheshire East Council.
A developer has submitted plans to build 250 houses on another piece of green land in Willaston, Nantwich, it emerged today.
The plan is for a 28-acre site bounded by Park Road in Willaston, the A51 Nantwich bypass between Cheerbrook and Peacock roundabouts, and the Crewe-Nantwich railway line.
A developer taking its plans for 170 homes in Willaston, near Nantwich, to appeal has submitted a second scaled down application for 146 properties. Richborough Estates wants to build on land off Moorfields on Wistaston Road, Willaston, despite a large number of objections from local residents.
Cheshire East councillors have voted through the final version of a new Local Plan Strategy which is to be sent to Government for endorsement. The Plan proposes a number of policies which impact on Nantwich and surrounding areas over the next 15 to 20 years.

By Jonathan White Cheshire East Council Leader Michael Jones faced concerned villagers in Wistaston over controversial housing development plans. He attended a packed Wistaston Parish Council meeting to discuss plans by developers for thousands of new homes in the village.
A new group called “Hands Off Wistaston” has been set up to protect the village’s Green Gap from development. Campaigners hope the group will help defend Wistaston against “unnecessary, unsustainable and unwanted development”.
