Councillor Kim Jamson was today welcomed in as the new Mayor of Nantwich at a town council meeting.
Cllr Jamson, who worked as a primary school teacher for many years, has acted as deputy mayor in 2025-26 and will now chair council meetings throughout the next year.
Work has been completed to improve car parking facilities in Shrewbridge Road in Nantwich.
It comes after similar work was done on the Nantwich Lake car park, which included relining and repairs.
Nantwich Police say they are unaware of any tickets being issued for heavy goods vehicles breaching the weight limit on Baddington Bridge.
The bridge on the A530 Whitchurch Road just outside Nantwich has had a 7.5 tonne weight limit on it since late September.
A Labour councillor’s bid to change the way Nantwich Mayors are appointed was scuppered – by the current Mayor’s casting vote!
Cllr John Priest put forward a motion that town mayor appointments should be shared between political groups.
Town councillors in Nantwich have agreed to lobby for more road safety measures near schools in Nantwich South ward.
They want to see the speed limit on Wellington Road and Audlem Road reduced from 30mph to 20mph close to Brine Leas School and St Anne’s Primary.
