Councillors call for “safe night travel” motion in Cheshire East

Employers should take some responsibility for ensuring shift workers get home safely and Cheshire East should consider this when pubs and clubs apply for late-night licences, two councillors have said.

Councillors Laura Smith and Sally Handley have put forward a motion to next week’s meeting of the full council calling for safe night time travel for workers.

Cheshire East Council prepares for reopening of town centres

Cheshire East Council says it is preparing for the reopening of town centres like Nantwich and urging businesses to access support available.

All non-essential retail will reopen from Monday April 12, as well as restaurants, bars and cafes for outdoor table service and hair and nail salons, libraries, and gyms.

Fracking licences covering Nantwich and South Cheshire have been awarded to companies in the latest round held by the Government.

The new licences were announced by the Oil and Gas Authority, and cover Nantwich town, surrounding villages south to Audlem, north to Tarporley, and east to Crewe and Alsager.
