Theatre-goers were given a real treat when they watched the “The Merry Widow” at Crewe’s Lyceum, writes Claire Faulkner. I love the magic and illusion that a trip to the theatre brings, and I’ll be honest, opera wouldn’t normally be the first thing I would decide to go and see at the Lyceum.
King’s Grove School presented ‘Evita’ at the Lyceum Theatre this week, writes Claire Faulkner. The opening numbers were amazing and the production continued to give the audience strong performances one after the other throughout the evening.
One of the 1960s greatest musical icons Gerry Marsden will be performing at The Lyceum in Crewe next month. Gerry & the Pacemakers, who topped the UK and US charts for much of the 60s, will be in town on February 17 from 7.30pm.
The Very Best in Stand Up is back in Nantwich next week, with a host of top TV funnymen. Organisers have lined up four comedians all making their debuts at Nantwich Civic Hall on Friday February 3.
Crewe & Nantwich Labour Party officers dropped by on fellow member Lucy Smart to help celebrate her 90th birthday. Lucy, from Crewe, was presented with flowers and vouchers for the Lyceum, where she worked as manager cook throughout the 1950s and 60s.
People flocked into The Lyceum to support the Centenary Celebration Show in aid of the Christie Hospital, writes Claire Faulkner. Compere Stu Francis led the audience through a wonderful variety show of local talent at last night’s show (November 20).
