Nantwich Museum launches appeal to buy historic rings

Nantwich Museum has launched a new fundraising campaign to buy gold Medieval and Post-Medieval rings.

The Medieval Gold and Turquoise Ring was discovered by members of the Crewe and Nantwich Metal Detecting Society near the mere in the grounds of Combermere Abbey.

“The Wonders of Colour” exhibition and events open at Nantwich Museum

Nantwich Museum has launched in its Community Gallery of the ‘The Wonders of Colour’ exhibition, due to run until Saturday November 22.

The exhibition, curated by Dr Helen Cooke, will bring to life the history and science of colour, dyes and pigments, food, artworks, stained glass, a local 17th century dye house, tanning, the role of salt in dyeing and more.

Angry town councillors in Nantwich have hit out at Cheshire East Council as delays on how to spend £500,000 of “public realm” funds rumble on.

The Section 106 money was allocated nearly seven years ago by Kingsbourne housing developers as part of the conditions of planning approval to build 1,000 homes.
