Cheshire Police 101 number “not fit for purpose” says Commissioner

Cheshire residents are dialling 999 when they should not because the non-emergency 101 number is “not fit for purpose”, the county’s Police Commissioner has said.

John Dwyer told members of the Cheshire Police and Crime Panel that he has put the chief constable under pressure to improve the 101 service.

Ambulance service to provide non-emergency transport for South Cheshire patients

An ambulance service has been handed extra funding to provide non-emergency transport for South Cheshire patients – less than a year after it agreed to end its original contract.

South Cheshire Clinical Commissioning Group will be one of six in Cheshire, Warrington and the Wirral to benefit after a new five-year contract to West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS), which begins on April 1.
