Covid cases in Cheshire East schools have dropped rapidly but one councillor fears the pandemic has sparked a “ticking time bomb” in our children’s mental health.
The number of reported Covid-19 cases in the borough’s schools dropped from around 9,000 in January to 4,000 in March and was down to 97 in April.
Covid-19 cases are at their highest level in Cheshire East since the global pandemic was declared in March 2020, latest figures show.
Official Government stats show positive cases in Cheshire East as 540 per 100,000 population.

There is “a high chance” of a fourth wave of Covid-19 cases in Cheshire East if residents do not follow government guidance.
That’s the warning from CEC Labour leader Sam Corcoran, despite a drop in cases to 51.8 in 100,000 – below the England average of 58.7.
