Malbank School and Sixth Form are partnering up with Nantwich Town to launch a new footballing academy.
The academy for boys and girls aged 16-18, will be led by current EFL defenders Rod McDonald and Kelvin Mellor.
By Ashley Houghton Two fine late saves by FC United of Manchester keeper James Spencer put a dent in Nantwich Town’s playoff push. Spencer saved superbly from Rod McDonald’s powerful 30 yard strike and then from Josh Lane in a one on one.
Nantwich Town winger Sean Cooke described his goal in Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Stafford Rangers as his “best ever” for the Dabbers. Cooke’s 25-yard cracker came in the 89th minute and earned Nantwich a point against their local rivals.
By Ashley Houghton Dave MacPherson grabbed a brace as Nantwich closed the gap on eighth place Rushall Olympic to one point at the Weaver Stadium. The Dabbers fell behind to a Mitchell Tolley penalty but MacPherson’s double and goals from Rod McDonald and Tom Urwin earned a convincing 4-1 win.

McDonald, who signed for the Dabbers in November, was booked twice in five minutes, summing up a miserable afternoon for Jimmy Quinn’s men who went down to a first half Steve Foster strike.
