Nantwich Town have added to their striking options ahead of today’s match with Hednesford by signing Lee Steele.

The experienced forward has over 300 league appearances for Shrewsbury, Leighton Orient, Brighton, Oxford United and Chester City.

He also played for Northwich Victoria, Barrow and Oxford City.

Lee, 38, was released by Oxford City this week due to comments on a social media site.

He says these were made tongue in cheek at the time and Lee has apologised for this and any offence this has caused and would also like to stress that he is not homophobic in any way.

Dabbers manager Jimmy Quinn said: “I am pleased to have been able to bring Lee into the squad.

“He is an experienced proven striker that holds the ball up and can make a difference to us and hopefully we will be in a position to strengthen the squad further over the next couple of weeks.”

Today’s game at home to Hednesford goes ahead after a pitch inspection this morning. Kick off 3pm.
